What is tgcmd.exe?
This is a program that is related SupportSoft online support software. It comes pre-installed on many name-brand computers, and is installed as part of many ISPs' software packages. Its purpose is to provide online technical support support services. This software sends out a large amount of information about your computer usage habits, and is considered by many to be spyware. Comcast is known to install a modified version of this software that informs Comcast of the user's web browsing habits.

This process is not essential to the operation of the system and can safely be killed or uninstalled. Due to the spyware-like nature of this software, it is strongly recommended that you remove it. Note that by removing it, however, you will not have the online support functionality for the computer manufacturer or ISP that installed the software.

Dangers of tgcmd
By many accounts, this software is a piece of spyware. Compared to other spyware applications, however, this software is easily removed. As this is an executable that is pre-installed on many name-brand systems and is installed by many Internet service providers, it is possible for virus writers and other spyware vendors to disguise their malware as the genuine one.

Some malicious files may have the same name as this process but be stored somewhere other than in %ProgramFiles%\Support.com\bin. Other malware may use a name that appears similar to that of the legitimate one but with slight differences in spelling or with appended digits. While there are currently no known viruses, Trojans, or adware applications that disguise themselves as this process, you should look out for the presence of this file in an incorrect location or with a slightly different name.

There should not typically be more than one instance of tgcmd.exe running at a given time on a system. The presence of multiple instances may be an indicator of a malware infection. If you do not have support software that was installed by your computer manufacturer or Internet service provider, the presence of this executable is a possible sign of a virus infection.
